OneFinishLine has been my tagline and social media identity for many years, but only a few people know the history. I have been a runner since high school. That was long before I accepted Jesus as my Saviour. Shortly before turning 23 my life changed dramatically and I began studying God's Word. A Christian friend suggested that as I read the Bible to select a passage that had a special meaning for my life. While reading Philippians 3, I was struck by Paul's words of struggles and challenges that he experienced. Through it all he stills determines in verse 14 to press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
As a runner, pressing on to the end of a race is always my goal. Quitting is rarely an option and has only happened once - that is another story. Keeping my focus on the finish line helps me to continue putting one foot in front of the other even when it gets tough on a long challenging course. As a Christian my goal for life is clear - point others to Jesus as He is the only true finish line. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.
Since 1998, the tagline for my email signature has combined these ideas into a simple phrase.
There is only One Finish Line!!
